Housecleaning My Mind Map and My Domain Name List
Nothing like pulling the weeds so you can see the cucumbers.
Sometimes I need to step back to take stock of my actions. Do I have a written plan? Yep. Do I follow it? Yes. Then why do I feel out of control?
My autistic brain will stop dead in its tracks if it suspects something is out of whack. This week's article focuses on coaxing that brain out of the confines of the Interstate rest stop and back into the fold of my mind map, onto the hot asphalt of the open road, and into the plans that take us home rather than wandering off to the beach.
You may not be interested in this week's article, but I must put everything back into focus, starting with domain names:
lindagoin.com: Where did this domain name come from and why doesn't it have anything attached to it? I know the email works and it transfers to and from my Gmail successfully, so I won't miss anything there. I think this domain might serve as a "table of contents" for all the sites, writings, artwork, etc. that currently are hiding in my portfolio. Back burner.
llewgowen.com: Yikes. The story behind this domain is sketchy. I may let it retire. Back burner.
joannesrecipes.com: The Facebook page where I've listed many of my mother's original family recipes. I want to make a website for this project, but not now. Back burner.
goinhome.com: For sale at Sedo.
goinoriginals.com: A domain name that reflects the name of my eBay shop. I don't know why I need a domain name when I plan to close shop after everything in this house is sold. That goal may take a few years though. Back burner.
goingardening.com: The site is up and running and I've been adding content. Also revived my Instagram and I'm focusing on gardening with garden tips there. I've also cleaned up my Pinterest account, and I'll use that site for links that connect to my websites. Not a table of contents as much as actual content. AdSense still hasn't approved the site, but I'm patient. All is good here.
goinpoetic.com: I've had a Facebook page going for this project for about a year (known previously as Poetry Portal). No razor-sharp focus, though. I'm working on the website, and content from the website will go both to the Facebook page and to my Pinterest account. Feeling good about the progress here, even though it’s invisible to everyone else.
virgenealogy.com: Crazy name, but I'm fond of it. Genealogy focused mainly in Virginia, where my interests (and my master's degree) led me to study the integration of the French Huguenots (Calvinists) into an Anglican background about to be invaded by northern Baptists (also Calvinists). I have plenty of material to start the website, and I'll probably get on it this week.
goinforthegold.com: For sale at Sedo.
planitgoin.com: I couldn't resist. At a later date, I'll tell you why I went with this domain name. Right now, plans are slowly evolving with materials I'll be ready to share once I make this project visible.
movethosefeet.com: What can I say? I waxed nostalgic when I learned this domain was for sale again. I owned it about ten years ago. No one has dreamed this domain up or thought about a site name for dancing or foot racing, it seems. I don't know what that tells me, but I'm thinking about it. Back burner.
Hyperdivergent.com: This is the name of my Substack account, and it's "home" and an umbrella for all the other sites that I'll develop. I'm also linking to it on Pinterest, where my username is hyperdivergent and where my boards are my special interests.
There are three things I still need to complete for hyperdivergent before I do anything else. I need to fix the email, and I need to finish up the privacy policy and the terms of service documents. I plan to use the hyperdivergent email for all the websites (ouch -- can you tell I'm trying to wiggle out of MX and Gmail and all the other stuff connected with creating an email that works?).
Once I get that one email set and those legal documents finished, I'll be able to replicate their legal messages and contact information across the board. I know it's sloppy and lazy to ask ChatGPT to change out "goingardening.com" for "hyperdivergent.com", but hey. That's all I have to say about that.
Thanks for putting up with me this week. After writing these notes, it's pretty clear what I need to fix this week. Will report back next week if my brain cooperates.
Before I forget—Verse-Virtual published two of my poems last month. I mentioned it on LinkedIn, but sadly forgot to include it in this weekly letter.
